Remembrance Day 2015

After attending the Croydon District Remembrance Parade on Sunday 8th November 2015, we held our own Remembrance Evening on Monday 9th November 2015 at our Scout Meeting and we spoke with our Scouts about what it means and why this is so important to so many people. At the end of our meeting two of our Scouts did a reading to remember those that were lost.

Our Scouts each put together an acrostic poem using the word REMEMBER and we have selected 3 of them to share with you:
Rocketing larks go up skywards
Evermore bloodshed yet evermore peace
Malevolent swords of merciless steel
Embers of a tearful war broken fire
Morning dawns on forever raging liars
Back into the future of a world of war
Every death means more and more
Remember the good, remember the bad, to lead us through this life of sad

By Jasmine
Remember those who have fallen
Everlasting is what the poppy symbolises
Memories are what we have to keep
Everyone should be united to stop the wars
Men, women and children alike lost their lives
Britain the Country we are lucky to have today
Evil is what the brave extinguished at great sacrifice
Red is the colour of the poppy

By Caleb
Remember the soldiers that gave their today for our tomorrow
Everlasting the poppies are
Monuments lie to remember those that were never found
Earned our eternal respect for them
Memories of those young soldiers
British soldiers that lost their lives
Eternally in our hearts
Remember the soldiers that gave their tomorrow for our tomorrow

We will remember them.
